EPIC Hotel Miami

Our Rating

As recently as two or three years ago it would have been absurd to suggest that a vacation-minded traveler stay in downtown Miami. Now it’s all different. At first the Epic can feel like a hotel purely for business-minded travelers. When I was greeted by the attentive, helpful staff, they were quick to point out the business center, the 24-hour fitness center and the free coffee and newspapers available every morning on the ground floor.

But as I walked to the elevator, the bellman reminded me to book some spa services during my stay and suggested I head up to the pool for a quick dip before the free daily wine happy hour, at 5 in the lobby. Vacation indeed.

Private poolside cabanas are a great way to see the city; be sure to grab one early.I started to see the Epic, with its sleek, modern design — lots of white marble and a neutral color palette — as a wonderful alternative to some of the overdone hotels in Miami Beach. Frankly, it’s a welcome break from the surgically enhanced party crowd any month of the year.

The Epic is vocally kid- and pet-friendly. The hotel offers packages like the Super Hero Pet Getaway (which includes a pet bed, food and water bowls, dog walking service and “pawdicures”) and the Kimpton Kids program (which gives children a treasure chest full of gifts upon arrival and provides parents with a child safety kit, including nightlights and outlet covers).

What our Guests say:
Epic Miami has large rooms with a residential feel decor. Very friendly staff and personal service and a restaurant with impressive views. Most definitely best new addition to hotels in the area. ♥ I stayed at the EPIC last week, it is really great, especially now with Zuma Club. ♥ Be careful of downtown Miami, definitely not a place you want to be once it gets dark, so be sure to plan on taking a cab if you want to go offsite.

The rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows that put the skyline and water on full display. The Water View One-Bedroom Suite even has two balconies — one that overlooks Biscayne Bay and one the Atlantic Ocean.

Whether or not you go to the beach during your Miami stay, be sure to spend time at the 16th floor’s 13,752-square-foot pool deck, where guests lounge under umbrellas next to two large swimming pools. And when it’s time for dinner, stay on-site to try acclaimed chef John Critchley’s menu of sustainable seafood at Area 31.

And if that’s not enough, the nightlife and people-watching of South Beach are just a 20-minute taxi ride away.
